Thenaturalback.co.uk came about as my need for a multiple approach to my back pain getting better evolved. By that I mean a combination of therapeutic treatment, an understanding of why my body was in pain and then onto devising specific exercises gradually becoming more challenging as I became more able and stronger. Once I began to get better I realised not only could I relieve alot of the pain myself but if I educated myself and applied myself I could get stronger and reduce recurrences of it happening again.
So thenaturalback evolved.
I practice yoga as having been involved in ridiculously strenuous activities and an assortment of untreated injuries for most of my life, I have finally made a move towards ‘balance’. Yes, I know a horrid cliche but that’s the trouble with cliches isn’t it, they turn out to be the truth. As always light follows dark and I began practicing as I was injured and couldn’t return to the path that got me injured in the first place, (lightbulb moment). From there my interest went from illness and pain through a spectrum and then towards wellness.
After I had been practicing yoga for a while I realised what a complete healthcare system it is so I went on to study yoga as a therapy at its source in India. I then went on to study for a degree in osteopathy at the British School of Osteopathy, in London graduating in 2007. In my experience my academic studies have enhanced my understanding of yoga especially in terms of movement function and dysfunction and yoga has enriched my understanding of osteopathic practice.
My belief lay very firmly in our ability to change the things we can through conscious awareness and training overwriting old habits, reducing strain and ultimately removing pain. I would also recommend some simple and non intrusive natural products to break the pain cycle and get you on the road to recovery.
I offer osteopathic treatments as well as medical acupuncture and also specific rehabilitation exercise, yoga classes or one-one tuition.
